Classification: Sporocadaceae, Amphisphaeriales, Xylariomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Ascomycota, Fungi

Parabartalinia was proposed by Liu et al. (2019) in Sporocadaceae  to accommodate P. lateralis as the type species, which was collected on Acacia karroo (Fabaceae) leaf litter from the Karoo Desert in South Africa. This genus was established based on morphological and multi-locus phylogenetic analyses of combined LSU, ITS, tef1-α, tub2, and rpb2 sequence data (Liu et al. 2019). Parabartalinia is characterized by fusoid conidia with a rounded apex, truncate base, 4-septate, smooth, colorless apical and basal cells, pale brown median cells, and laterally branched apical appendagesParabartalinia is a monotypic genus (Species Fungorum 2024).

Type species: Parabartalinia lateralis F. Liu, L. Cai & Crous.
