Niu Citation when using this data: Tibpromma et al. 2024 (in prep.) – Fungalpedia, Yeast. Index Fungorum, Facesoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig. X Classification: Debaryomycetaceae, Saccharomycetales, Saccharomycetidae, Saccharomycetes, Saccharomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi. Hemisphaericaspora was proposed by Hui et al. (2014) based on the phylogeny analyses demonstrated that the type species Hemisphaericaspora nanyangensiswas distinct from all currently recognized teleomorphic yeast genera in the family Debaryomycetaceae. At the same time, they also transferred Candida insectamans to a new genus as a new combination, H. insectamans, according to their phenotypic and genotypic characteristics (Hui et al. 2014). In phylogeny, Hemisphaericaspora is related to the Lodderomyces and Spathaspora clades, but can be distinguished from them by DNA sequence and ascospore morphology (Nguyen et al. 2006, Kurtzman et al. 2011, Hui et al. 2014). Currently, Hemisphaericaspora [...]
