Based on ultrastructural analyses, Zhang et al. (2014) identified Xiuguozhangia as a new genus, with the type species Xiuguozhangia rosae. This species was initially described as Piricaudiopsis rosae by Zhang et al. (2009). Piricaudiopsis is characterized by hairy, velutinous, effuse colonies, single, brown to dark brown, straight or flexuous, erect, smooth or verruculose conidiophores, lageniform, pale brown, monoblastic conidiogenous cell, acropleurogenous, solitary, cheiroid, campanulate, verruculose, or smooth towards the distal cells conidia; brown, 0–4 of the apical cells may produce a slender, pale brown, appendage, holoblastic conidial ontogeny (Zhang et al. 20092014). Based on the Index Fungorum (2024), the genus Xiuguozhangia contains five species: X. rosae, X. appendiculata, X. indica, X. punicae and X. rhaphidophorae and were collected from China and India (Bhat et al. 1993Sureshkumar et al. 2005Zhang et al. 2009).

Type species: Xiuguozhangia rosae (K. Zhang & X.G. Zhang) K. Zhang & R.F. Castañeda

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Xiuguozhangia
