Doweld (2014) erected the Skirgielliaceae to accommodate Skirgiellia. Skirgielliaceae are obligatory intracellular mycoparasites. Because of the highly diverse morphology of Rozella. Skirgiellia was erected to accommodate three polysporangiate species. The monosporangiate forms are retained in Rozella. Batko (1977) designated the type of Rozella nomenclatural superfluously (Arts 52.1, 52.2) (Letcher & Powell 2018). This makes his generic name illegitimate. Therefore, the introduction of Skirgielliaceae is illegitimate.
Type genus: Skirgiellia A. Batko
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Skirgielliaceae
