Ramopenidiella was established by Crous et al. (2014), to accommodate Ramopenidiella cycadicola as a monotypic species, which is associated with leaf litter of Cycas calcicola from Queensland. The genus was identified based on its morphological and molecular characteristics (ITS, LSU, and TEF) (Crous et al. 2014). Ramopenidiella is characterized by dimorphic conidiophores, erect microconidiophores with brown, smooth-walled, subcylindrical, reduced to conidiogenous cells while, macroconidiophores are erect, brown, smooth and thick-walled, flexuous, unbranched, subcylindrical, three to eight-septate, base arising from hyphae, lacking rhizoids, conidiogenous cells are integrated, terminal, brown, subcylindrical, smooth-walled, truncate, apical loci subdenticulate, and give rise to several ramoconidia and primary ramoconidia are brown, smooth, fusoid-ellipsoid, aseptate, while secondary ramoconidia are pale brown, smooth, fusoid-ellipsoid, aseptate with thickened and darkened hila (Crous et al. 2014).
Type species: Ramopenidiella cycadicola Crous & R.G. Shivas
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Ramopenidiella
