Hosagoudar et al. (2001) introduced Lembosiaceae based on morphological characters of elongate thyriothecia with longitudinal or X- or Y-shaped slits (Hongsanan et al. 2014a). However, Hongsanan et al. (2014a) considered Lembosiaceae as a synonym of Asterinaceae using the first sequence data of Lembosia albersii. Later, sequence data of L. abaxialis, L. brigadeirensis, L. mimusopis, L. syzygii and L. xyliae were provided by Guatimosim et al. (2015), Marasinghe et al. (2020), Phookamsak et al. (2019) and Hongsanan et al. (2020a) respectively. Adding more sequence data from these studies in phylogenetic analysis, Hongsanan et al. (2020a) accepted Lembosiaceae as a separate family in Asterinales based on phylogenetical and morphological affinities. Wijayawardene et al. (2022) accepted two genera (Lembosia and Marthomamyces) in Lembosiaceae. Herein, we accepted five genera in Lembosiaceae including Andamanomyces, Cirsosia and Echidnodella based on morphology and molecular data.
Type genus: Lembosia Lév., Annls Sci. Nat., Bot., sér. 3 3: 58 (1845).
