Classification: Tubeufiaceae, Tubeufiales, Pleosporomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Helicodochium was established by Monteiro et al. (2014) to accommodate the type species Helicodochium amazonicum based on morphological studiesWijayawardene et al. (2017) referred to this genus as the Ascomycota genus incertae sedis. Based on morphological and phylogenetic evidence, Lu et al. (2018) accepted Helicodochium as a genus of Tubeufiaceae and introduced H. aquaticum, as the second species. Helicodochium is characterized by sporodochial conidiomata, apothecium-like, dry, macronematous conidiophores, and branched, septate, and monoblastic conidiogenous cells that produce helicoid, multiseptate, smooth, and hyaline conidia (Monteiro et al. 2014).
