Index Fungorum, Facesoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank.

Classification: Parmulariaceae, Asterinales, Dothideomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi

Colonies epiphyllous on the leaves. Superficial mycelium lacking or sometimes composed with sub hyaline to very light olive brown, thin-walled obscurely septate hyphae. Sexual morph: Thyriothecia superficial, confluent to scat- tered, with angular and irregular or slightly elongated out- line, basal layer sub hyaline, covering membrane dark brown to black composed with small cells. Hamathecium compose of sub hyaline or olive oil brown paraphysoides. Asci spherical or broadly ovate, 4–8-spored, sessile. Ascospores oblong, 1-septum, hyaline to olive brown or blackish brown. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Notes: Saccardo (1919) introduced Ferrarisia with the type species of F. philippina. However, later type species was synonymized under F. ipomoeae. Species of Ferrarisia are pathogenic on living leaves in the tropics (Inácio and Cannon 2008; Wijayawardene et al. 2018, 2020). They are characterized by small, superficial, circular to elliptical, black ascomata with subglobose asci and ellipsoid, brown, 1-septum ascospores (Inácio and Cannon 2008).

Type species: Ferrarisia philippina Sacc., Atti Soc. Veneto- Trent. Sci. Nat., Padova 23: 61 (1917)

Other accepted species:  species Fungorum – search Ferrarisia.
