Based on morphological and molecular analyses, Oberwinkler et al. (2014) combined Sebacina concrescens and S. helvelloides into a new genus Helvellosebacina, named H. concrescens and H. helvelloides (type species), respectively. Helvellosebacina has resupinate to upright merulioid-helvelloid basidiomata and simple to sparingly ramified dikaryophyses (Oberwinkler et al. 2014). Later, the new species H. granulate was introduced by Sesli (2021) from the Euro-Siberian phytogeographical region of the eastern Black Sea in Turkey, but is most probably also present in Estonia. Therefore, Helvellosebacina only comprises three species H. concrescens, H. helvelloides and H. granulate (Oberwinkler et al. 2014, Sesli 2021). Helvellosebacina species have been found to grow solitary or gregarious deciduous woods and are distributed in a wide variety of plant species (Sesli 2021).
Type species: Helvellosebacina helvelloides (Schwein.) Oberw., Garnica & K. Riess
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Helvellosebacina
