Classification: Pannariaceae, Peltigerales, Lecanoromycetidae, Lecanoromycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Based on phylogenetic analysis, Ekman et al. (2014) established the genus of Nebularia with two species (N. incrassata (type) and N. psoromoides). While, two species were initially described as Parmeliella incrassata and P. psoromoides by Jorgensen (2000), and both belong to Andean species. This genus is characterized by brownish, thickened, digitate lobes thallus, reddish brown, flat apothecia, loosely interwoven hyphae subhymenium, cylindrical asci with a distinct apical amyloid tube, and globose to ellipsoid ascospores (Jorgensen 2000Ekman et al. 2014). So far, only two species have been accepted from this genus.

Type species: Nebularia incrassata (P.M. Jørg.) P.M. Jørg.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Nebularia
