The holocarpic, initially coenocytic, then constricted segments of the thallus endobiotic give rise to intermediate sterile cells and zoosporangia, which eventually disintegrate as the thallus matures. Inoperculate zoosporangia with one or few papillae (Doweld 2014). Zoospores have a single lipid globule, a unique nuclear cap, orange-yellow granules at the anterior of the cell, and they are posteriorly uniflagellate and fusiform to guttate.
