This genus was introduced by Liu et al. (2019a) to accommodate the previously described species Seimatosporium quercinum on Quercus from Germany (Goonasekara et al. 2016). It is phylogenetically close to the genera Allelochaeta and Sarcostroma. Xenoseimatosporium is distinct from Seimatosporium in producing allantoid and subcylindrical conidia with ragged appendages (Liu et al. 2019a).

Type species: Xenoseimatosporium quercinum (Goonas., R.K. Schumach. & K.D. Hyde) F. Liu, L. Cai & Crous

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Xenoseimatosporium.
