Classification: Nectriaceae, Hypocreales, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
Saprobic, isolated from exposed xylem tissues of Gmelina arborea. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Conidiophores macronematous, mostly single, erect. Conidiogenous cells phialidic, cylindrical, tapering to the apex, with inconspicuous collarettes, hyaline. Conidia ellipsoid, asymmetric, with truncated base, aseptate, hyaline, smooth-walled, occur in yellowish slimy droplets. Synasexual morph: Hyphomycetous, acremonium-like. Conidiophores micro- or macronematous. Conidiogenous cells hyaline, cylindrical tapering gradually towards the apex with distinct collarette. Conidia fusiform with truncated base, hyaline, occur in colourless slimy droplets (adapted from Crous et al. 2015).
Known distribution: Indonesia (Crous et al. 2015)
Notes: This monotypic genus is typified by Xenoleptographium phialoconidium (Crous et al. 2015). Xenoleptographium is morphologically related to Leptographium (Ophiostomataceae) but differs in enteroblastic conidiogenous cells and lack of tolerance to cycloheximide (Crous et al. 2015).
Type species: Xenoleptographium phialoconidium Marinc., T.A. Duong, Z.W. de Beer & M.J. Wingf., in Crous et al., Persoonia 35: 319 (2015).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Xenoleptographium.
