Wicklowia was introduced based on morphological characteristics and LSU sequence data. Boonmee et al. (2019) introduced a second species, W. submersa from a stream in southern Thailand.

Type species: Wicklowia aquatica Raja, A. Ferrer & Shearer.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Wicklowia.
