Notes: Trochophora was introduced by Moore (1955), with T. simplex as the type species based on morphology and molecular data (Crous et al. 2013). Trochophora is characterized by synnematous, straight or curved, cylindrical, pale to medium brown conidiophores that are mostly unbranched, and tightly aggregated at the base but separating near the apex, and polyblastic, integrated, terminal, sympodial, and clavate conidiogenous cells, and solitary, helicoid, pale to medium brown, transversely euseptate conidia, with a darkened and thickened band at the septa (Moore 1955; Crous et al. 2013). Trochophora comprises three species: T. fasciculata, T. indicum, and T. simplex, which were found on decaying wood or Daphniphyllum in terrestrial habitats, respectively (Goos 1986; Crous et al. 2013). Furthermore, T. simplex is pathogenic on Daphniphyllum teijsmannii and D. macropodum (Crous et al. 2013).
Type species: Trochophora simplex (Petch) R.T. Moore, Mycologia 47: 90 (1955).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Trochophora.
