Telogalla was established by Hoffmann et al. (2000) to accommodate Telogalla olivieri, originally classified as Laestadia olivieri Vouaux, which grows on Xanthoria. It was placed within Verrucariaceae (Verrucariales). Its key features include perithecioid ascomata with a hyaline peridium, branched periphysoid filaments, eight-spored asci of the verrucaria type, and hyaline, unicellular ascospores. Etayo (2017) added a second species, T. cajasensis, found on Leptogium. There are two species recognized in this genus, with no molecular data available in GenBank.
Type species: Telogalla olivieri (Vouaux) Nik. Hoffm. & Hafellner.
= Laestadia olivieri Vouaux.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Telogalla.
