Classification: Sordariales genera incertae sedis, Sordariomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Roselliniomyces was introduced by Matzer et al. (1990) to accommodate R. trichotheliorum, which grows on Trichothelium epiphyllum. This genus is distinguished by its black, non-setose, spherical, superficial perithecia, which have a brown pseudoparenchymatous wall and brown, septate, unbranched setae on the upper surface. The paraphyses and periphyses are elongated, septate, and simple. The asci are cylindrical to slightly clavate, unitunicate, with thin walls. The ascospores are primarily unicellular, ellipsoidal, initially hyaline with a halo, becoming pale brown and verruculose upon maturity. This genus differs from Reconditella by having well-developed setae and is currently placed as incertae sedis within Sordariales due to the lack of molecular data (Matzer et al. 1990, Hyde et al. 2024). Etayo (2017) introduced a second species, R. erinaceus, which differs from R. trichotheliorum by its larger ascomata, larger asci, and larger ascospores with one or two septa. To date, only two species are recognized in this genus.

Type species: Roselliniomyces trichotheliorum Matzer & Hafellner (Matzer et al. 1990).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Roselliniomyces.
