Classification: Niessliaceae, Hypocreales, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi
Saprobic on twigs of Rosa. Sexual morph: Ascomata perithecial, solitary or scattered, immersed, pyriform to subglobose, black, membranaceous, glabrous, ostiolate, periphysate. Peridium composed of membranaceous, brown to hyaline cells of textura angularis to textura prismatica. Paraphyses absent. Asci 8-spored, unitunicate, cylindrical to clavate, pedicellate or sessile, apex rounded, apical ring indistinct, evanescent. Ascospores bi-seriate, hyaline, cylindrical to fusiform, straight or slightly curved, 1-septate, smooth-walled, guttulate. Asexual morph: Hyphomycetous. Mycelium white to orange, superficial, effused. Conidiophores mononematous, macronematous, hyaline, unbranched, cylindrical to oblong, aseptate. Conidia terminal, cylindrical, usually curved, 1-septate, hyaline, smooth-walled, guttulate (adapted from Jaklitsch & Voglmayr 2012).
