Notes: Rogergoosiella was introduced by Hernández-Gutiérrez and Mena Portales (1996), with R. roystoneicola as the type species. Rogergoosiella comprises a single species, R. roystoneicola, found on a dead petiole of Roystonea regia in Cuba (Hernández-Gutiérrez and Mena Portales 1996). Rogergoosiella resembles the genera Helicodendron, Helicoon, Helicorhoidion, Inesiosporium, Lambertella and Troposporium in having doliiform, coiled conidia, but Rogergoosiella can be easily distinguished from these genera by the presence of percurrent, typically lageniform, conidiogenous cells (Harkness 1884; Linder 1929, 1933; Glen-Bott 1955; Abdullah and Webster 1981; Hernández-Gutiérrez and Mena Portales 1996; Castañeda Ruíz and Gams 1997). Rogergoosiella is characterized by macronematous, mononematous, upright, straight or flexuous, septate, simple or dichotomously branched, smooth, hyaline to brown conidiophores that are sometimes constricted at the septa, monoblastic, integrated, terminal, lageniform conidiogenous cells that are percurrent several times, and holoblastic, solitary, acrogenous, septate, ovoid to ellipsoid, hyaline to subhyaIine conidia that are tightly coiled in three planes (Hernández-Gutiérrez and Mena Portales 1996).
Type species: Rogergoosiella roystoneicola A. Hern. Gut. & J. Mena, Mycological Research 100: 1483 (1996).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Rogergoosiella.
