Index Fungorum number: IF 821274; Facesoffungi number: FoF 03360; 2 species with sequence data.

Saprobic on decaying wood. Asexual morph: Hyphomycetous. Colonies effuse, scattered, dark brown, glistening. Mycelium partly superficial, comprising brown, septate, branched hyphae. Conidiophores macronematous, mononematous, solitary, cylindrical, slightly tapering distally, flexuous or straight, septate, mid to dark brown, at times reduced to a single conidiogenous cell, truncate at the apex. Conidiogenous cells integrated, terminal, monoblastic, cylindrical, brown. Conidia acrogenous, solitary, fusiform or obclavate, septate, mid to dark brown, becoming paler towards the apex, base truncate. Sexual morph: Undetermined (adapted from Yang et al. 2018).

Type species: Pseudostanjehughesia aquitropica J. Yang & K.D. Hyde, in Yang, Maharachchikumbura, Liu, Hyde, Jones, Al-Sadi & Liu, Mycol. Progr. 17(5): 610 (2017) [2018]

Notes: Pseudostanjehughesia was introduced with a single taxon, collected from freshwater habitat. The genus resembles Stanjehughesia and Linkosia in terms of conidiophore and conidium morphology (Luo et al. 2019). Linkosia distinguishes itself from Pseudostanjehughesia by its lageniform or ampulliform conidiogenous cells and distoseptate conidia. While it is more challenging to separate Pseudostanjehughesia from Stanjehughesia, since they both share many similar morphological characters vis-à-vis the conidiophores, conidiogenous cells and conidia, the two genera are nevertheless phylogenetically distinct.
