Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.
Pseudophaeoisaria was introduced by Diederich et al. (2024) to accommodate the type species P. cladoniae. The genus is characterized by synnematous, non-gelatinous conidiomata with a pale to medium greyish-brown stipe and a slightly velvety capitulum. Stipe hyphae are brown, K+ olivaceous, parallel, septate, and smooth. The mycelium is immersed, with conidiophores not distinct from stipe hyphae. Conidiogenous cells are integrated, terminal, hyaline, sometimes short-branched, sympodial, denticulate. Conidia are dry, aseptate, subspherical to short-ellipsoidal, often catenate in groups of 2–3, medium brown, K+ olivaceous brown and smooth walls. Due to the lack of molecular data, this genus is tentatively placed within Ascomycota genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024).
Type species: Pseudophaeoisaria cladoniae Diederich & Giavarini, on Cladonia polydactyla. (Diederich et al. 2024).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Pseudophaeoisaria.
