Notes: Pseudopestalotiopsis was introduced by Maharachchikumbura et al. (2014), to accommodate pestalotiopsis- like taxa, having brown to dark brown or olivaceous three median cells and knobbed or not knobbed apical appendages. Pseudopestalotiopsis species are widely distributed worldwide as saprobes or pathogens, occurring on leaves (Maharachchikumbura et al. 2014, 2016b, Liu et al. 2017b, Tsai et al. 2018). Pseudopestalotiopsis can be distinguished from Neopestalotiopsis and Pestalotiopsis, based on DNA sequences analysis and to some extent by dark concolourous median cells (Maharachchikumbura et al. 2014, 2016b). Currently, Pseudopestalotiopsis comprises 22 species listed in Species Fungorum (2021).
Type species: Pseudopestalotiopsis theae (Sawada) Maharachch., K.D. Hyde & Crous, in Maharachchikumbura, Hyde, Groenewald, Xu & Crous, Stud. Mycol. 79: 183 (2014).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Pseudopestalotiopsis.
