Etymology: “Pseudocirrenalia”, referring to the morphological similarity of the new taxon to Cirrenalia.

Notes: The genus Pseudocirrenalia is morphologically similar to Cirrenalia but phylogenetically apart from Cirrenalia, and shares a sister phylogenetic relationship to the genus Cucurbitinu species with 88% ML/0.99 PP support (Meyers and Moore 1960Zhao and Liu 2005; Jiang and Zhang 2007; Zhang et al. 2014Spribille et al. 2020). However, Pseudocirrenalia can be distinguished from Cucurbitinu by its more or less helicoid or irregularly contorted conidia, while the conidia of Cucurbitinu are clavate, and gourd-shaped (Liu et al. 2020). Therefore, Pseudocirrenalia is introduced as a distinct new genus in this study.
