Classification: Nectriaceae, Hypocreales, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
Saprobic on dead or decaying leaves of Pandanus sp. in terrestrial habitats. Mycelium superficial on the host, hyaline, rough, unbranched, septate, pale orange. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph Hyphomycetous. Conidiophores macronematous, mononematous, unbranched, erect, straight, multi-septate, becoming thick-walled towards the base, hyaline and glassy. Conidiogenous cells terminal, phialidic, held in a whorl of 5–6, cylindrical, narrowing to a short neck, hyaline, smooth-walled. Conidia ovoid, aseptate, apex rounded, sometimes flattened in one side, smooth, hyaline to subhyaline, occur in slimy masses, with or without mucoid sheath (adapted from Tibpromma et al. 2018).
Known distribution: Thailand (Tibpromma et al. 2018)
Notes: Tibpromma et al. (2018) established the monospecific asexual genus Pseudoachroiostachys associated with Pandanus sp. Pseudoachroiostachys has similar asexual morph and colony morphology with Achroiostachys aurantispora in Stachybotryaceae (Hypocreales) (Lombard et al. 2016; Tibpromma et al. 2018). Current phylogenetic analysis confirmed the placement of Pseudoachroiostachys in Nectriaceae (Perera RH et al. 2023). Pseudoachroiostachys showed close phylogenetic affinities to Pandanaceomyces (Perera RH et al. 2023).
Type species: Pseudoachroiostachys krabiensis Tibpromma & K.D. Hyde [as ‘krabiense‘], in Tibpromma et al., Fungal Divers. 92: 107 (2018).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Pseudoachroiostachys.
