Generic description: see Petch (1921)

Notes: Podonectria was established to accommodate three entomopathogenic species: Podonectria coccicola, P. Aurantii and P. echinate on scale insects (Petch 1921). Dao et al. (2016) provided the updated description of P. coccicola and P. novae-zelandiae based on new collection which occurred on armoured scale insects. Meanwhile, Dao et al. (2016) assigned designed a new family Podonectriaceae to accommodate Podonectria.
