Peronosporaceae is a large complex family that contains a number of devastating plant-pathogenic oomycete species (Thines and Choi 2016). A broad circumscription of Peronosporaceae, encompassing Phytophthora, Phytopythium, Halophytophthora, Nothophytophthora and all downy mildew genera is currently accepted.
