Patellariales was introduced by Hawksworth and Eriksson (1986) to accommodate the monotypic family Patellariaceae. This treatment was followed in the latest outline of fungi (Wijayawardene et al. 2022a) and the updated refined orders and families incertae sedis in Dothideomycetes (Hongsanan et al. 2020b).

Type family: Patellariaceae Corda.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Patellariales.
