Etymology: Referring to the close phylogenetic relationship with the genus Moleospora.

Saprobic in marine sedimentsSexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Conidiophores present or obsolete, when present mononematous, micronematous, septate, hyaline to light brown, cylindrical to clavate. Conidiogenous cells holoblastic, born on conidiophores or directly on mycelia, hyaline to brown. Conidia terminal or intercalary, subglobose, ellipsoidal to ovoid, thick- and smooth-walled, brown to dark brown, aseptate, guttulate.

Notes: Paramoleospora is herein introduced to accommodate the asexual morph of 
P. guttulata. It forms a distinct clade sister to Moleospora, but differs from the latter by the conidial shape (subglobose, ellipsoidal to ovoid vs. helicoid).
