Classification: Gomphillaceae, Graphidales, Ostropomycetidae, Lecanoromycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Paragyalideopsis was introduced by Etayo (2017) to accommodate four species that grow on non-foliicolous lichens, with Paragyalideopsis floridae (originally Gyalideopsis floridae) designated as the type species. This genus is distinguished by its lichenicolous habitat on non-epiphyllic species, the presence of a highly reduced thallus beneath the ascomata, the absence of hyphophores, and myriospored asci with small spores. Since Paragyalideopsis was separated from Gyalideopsis, it has been provisionally placed in the same family, Gomphillaceae (Ostropales). However, Hyde et al. (2024) placed Gomphillaceae within Graphidales, and this placement was confirmed by Lebreton et al. (2025) based on the phylogenetic analysis using three genes sequence dataset (LSU, mtSSU and RPB1) pending the molecular data available.

Type species: Paragyalideopsis floridae (Etayo & Diederich) Etayo

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Paragyalideopsis.
