Normanogalla was introduced by Diederich (2014) to classify the lichenicolous, gall-inducing species N. cribriformis, formerly known as Lecanora cribriformis Norman, which grows on terricolous Pertusaria in Scandinavia and Greenland. This genus is characterized by pale, immersed, cleistohymenial ascomata; an ascomatal wall lacking crystals; abundant periphysoids; a KI- hymenium; subcylindrical, 8-spored asci with an unthickened or slightly thickened apical wall; and subspherical, aseptate ascospores. Normanogalla is monotypic, and no sequence data is available. Normanogalla has been tentatively placed within Ostropales as genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024).
Type species: Normanogalla cribriformis (Norman) Diederich, on Pertusaria (Diederich 2014)
= Lecanora cribriformis Norman.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Normanogalla.
