Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig 1.

Classification: Phaeosphaeriaceae, Pleosporales, Pleosporomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Neoophiobolus was introduced by Mapook et al. (2020a) to accommodate the type species N. chromolaenae based mainly on a phylogenetic analysis and its ophiobolus-like morphological characteristics. Until now, only the type species was known.

Type species: Neoophiobolus filiformisporus J.F. Zhang & Jian K. Liu.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Neoophiobolus.

Figure 1 – Neoophiobolus filiformisporus (GZAAS 19-1748, holotype): a Appearance of ascomata on the substrate. b Vertical section through ascoma. c Section of Peridium. d Immature ascus. e Pseudoparaphyses anastomosed between asci. f, g Asci. h, i Ascospores. Scale bars: b = 100 μm, c = 5 μm, d–g = 20 μm, h, i = 30 μm.
