Neoheleiosa P.E. Mortimer.

Citation when using this data: Zhang JF et al. 2023 – Fungalpedia.

Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig 1.

Classification: Monoblastiaceae, Monoblastiales, Incertae sedis, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Neoheleiosa was introduced and assigned to Monoblastiaceae based on morphological and molecular analysis (Mortimer et al. 2021). It is phylogenetically close to Heleiosa, but differs in the ornamentation of ascospores. Heleiosa is characterized by ellipsoidal to fusiform, two-celled, brown ascospores with numerous cilia-like subapical appendages at each end. Neoheleiosa has narrowly ovoid to clavate, 1-septate, dark brown, guttulate ascospores with conically rounded ends and faintly longitudinally striation, and lacks any appendages (Kohlmeyer et al. 1996; Mortimer et al. 2021).

Type species: Neoheleiosa guizhzouensis J.F. Zhang & K.D. Hyde.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Neoheleiosa.
