Classification: Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Saprobic on palms or plant debris, terrestrial. Sexual morph Ascomata immersed to erumpent, solitary to gregarious, visible as black dots on host substrate, probably surrounded by pigmentation, subglobose to ampulliform, ostiolate. Peridium thin, composed of textura angularis cells. Paraphyses hypha-like, septate, embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, pedicellate, with a J- apical ring. Ascospores uniseriate or overlapping biseriate, ellipsoid, with fishtail shaped appendages at each end, hyaline, aseptate. Asexual morph Colonies milky white or coloured. Mycelium immersed or superficial. Conidiophores erect, flexuous, branched below, subcylindrical, septate, pale to mid-brown. Conidiogenous cells terminal or intercalary, subcylindrical, hyaline, smooth, polyblastic, with short, conico-truncate denticles. Conidia 0–3-septate, fusiform, appendiculate, slightly curved and tapering towards apex, narrowly truncate at base, unbranched, smooth and thin-walled.

Notes: Neoeriomycopsis was introduced based on a hyphomycetous asexual morph, which is characterized by erect, flexuous conidiophores, terminal or intercalary, subcylindrical, polyblastic conidiogenous cells, and 1–3-septate, fusiform, hyaline conidia, slightly curved and tapering towards the apex (Crous et al. 2015b). Crous et al. (2023) discussed that Guarroa and Neoeriomycopsis are congeneric and introduced Neoeriomycopsis acutispora (= Guarroa acutispora) and N. fissistigmae. Guarroa is characterized by erect, straight or flexuous, repeatedly branched, later repent conidiophores, terminal or intercalary, polyblastic, usually swollen, hyaline and denticulate conidiogenous cells, and 0–1-septate, fusiform, hyaline, appendiculate conidia (Calduch et al. 2002; Heredia et al. 2020). In the present study, a new species with a sexual morph is introduced, so we also emendment the generic description.

Type species: Neoeriomycopsis aristata (B. Sutton & Hodges) Crous & M.J. Wingf.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Neoeriomycopsis.
