Classification : Neobuelliellaceae, Asterinales, Dothideomycetes orders incertae sedis, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Neobuelliella was introduced by Hongsanan et al. (2020b) to accommodate N. poetschii (Hafellner) Hongsanan & K.D. Hyde, which was transferred from Buelliella poetschii Hafellner. This type species is the sole lichenicolous member of the genus, characterized by apothecioid ascomata that initially appear as black dots, grouped, rounded, and globose. As the ascomata mature, they become oval and flattened at the edges. The asci are bitunicate, fissitunicate, and cylindrical, typically containing 4–6 spores. The ascospores are elongated with rounded cells, hyaline to brown, 1-septate, and possess thin walls (Hongsanan et al. 2020b).

Type species: Neobuelliella poetschii (Hafellner) Hongsanan & K.D. Hyde, on Endocarpon adsurgens (Hongsanan et al. 2020b).

= Buelliella poetschii Hafellner.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Neobuelliella
