Classification: Parabambusicolaceae, Pleosporales, Pleosporomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Neoaquastroma was introduced by Wanasinghe et al. (2017) to accommodate the type species N. guttulatum based on morphological and multi-gene analysis. Three other species (N. bauhiniae, N. cylindricum and N. krabiense) were subsequently accepted in the genus (Phukhamsakda et al. 2018; Samarakoon et al. 2019b). These taxa are morphologically characterized by having immersed, globose to subglobose, glabrous ascomata, bitunicate, fissitunicate, clavate, short pedicellate asci and ellipsoidal to subfusiform, hyaline, multi-septate, guttulate ascospores surrounded by a distinct mucilaginous sheath (Wanasinghe et al. 2017).

Type species: Neoaquastroma guizhouense J.F. Zhang & Jian K. Liu.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Neoaquastroma.
