Abdollahzadeh et al. (2020) established Neoantennariellaceae to accommodate genera similar to Antennariella and placed two genera (Fumiglobus and Neoasbolisia) with the type genus of Neoantennariella. According to the phylogenetic analysis (LSU, ITS, tef1 and rpb2) of Abdollahzadeh et al. (2020), the clade Neoantennariellaceae forms a stable independent lineage sister to Readerielliopsidaceae.
