Classification: Incertae sedis, LulworthialesLulworthiomycetidae, SordariomycetesPezizomycotinaAscomycota, Fungi

Saprobic on submerged marine substrates. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Hyphae septate, branched, superficial or immersed, pale-brown. Conidiophores absent. Conidiogenous cells holoblastic, integrated, terminal, determinate. Conidia dark-grey to fuscous, solitary, scattered or gregarious, muriform. Conidia initially spiral, but cell divisions in several planes, leads to a tangled knot of cells.

Notes: This is a marine monotypic asexual genus in the order Lulworthiales forming a sister clade to Lulwoana. The genus was introduced for the species Cumulospora varia, as it was distantly placed from the type species, Cumulospora marina (Abdel-Wahab et al. 2010).

Type species: Moromyces varius (Chatmala & Somrith.) Abdel-Wahab, K.L. Pang, Nagah., Abdel-Aziz & E.B.G. Jones.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Moromyces.
