Fungalpedia – Note 3234, Morenoinaceae
Morenoinaceae Hongsanan & K.D. Hyde.
Citation when using this data: Zhang SN et al. 2024 – Fungalpedia.
Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank.
Notes: The family was established by Hongsanan et al. (2020b) based on a phylogeny of LSU gene matrix, from which the Morenoina clade comprised of two sequenced species, M. calamicola and M. palmicola. Morenoinaceae is monotypic, and morphologically resembles Aulographaceae (Hongsanan et al. 2014). The latter family also accommodates species with linear or X- or Y-shaped thyriothecia, hyaline ascospores, the hyphae without appressoria, and yet, the two families are phylogenetically distinct (Hongsanan et al. 2014).
Type genus: Morenoina Theiss., Annales Mycologici 11 (5): 434 (1913).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Morenoinaceae.
