Notes: The family contains lichenized and non-lichenized fungi, which are mainly sexual morphs and rarely asexual morph taxa (e.g., Funbolia and Pseudopassalora), usually distributed in terrestrial, lowland and montane, tropical to subtropical regions, very rarely found in salt marshes (e.g., Heleiosa) (Hongsanan et al. 2020b). The lichenized genera were reviewed by Lücking et al. in Hyde et al. (2013). The family Eriomycetaceae was established to accommodate five non-lichenized genera, Eriomyces, Funbolia, Heleiosa, Phellinocrescentia and Pseudopassalora (Hyde et al. 2020a). However, the non-lichenized lineages assimilated into a paraphyletic topology of lichenized lineages with moderate support in a backbone phylogeny by Lücking et al. in Hongsanan et al. (2020b), who treated Eriomycetaceae as a synonym of Monoblasticaceae. Most genera of Monoblasticaceae have available sequence data, except for Caprettia, and the type genus Monoblastia (Nelsen et al. 2011; Hyde et al. 2013, 2020a; Hongsanan et al. 2020b). In the present study, two of our collections phylogenetically grouped with the non-lichenized lineages in Monoblastiaceae, one of which is the first sequences for Appendispora frondicola, and the other was recognized as a new host record of Neoheleiosa guizhouensis.

Type genus: Monoblastia Riddle.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Monoblastiaceae.
