Classification: Parabambusicolaceae, Pleosporales, Pleosporomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
Notes: Phookamsak et al. (2019) introduced this genus based on a terrestrial ascomycete Lonicericola hyaloseptispora, which resembles other sexual morph genera in Parabambusicolaceae but is distinct in phylogeny. Lonicericola can be distinguished from these genera in habitat (aquatic or terrestrial), shape of ascomata (globose, subglobose or hemispherical to conical), the number of ascospore septa, and multi-gene phylogeny evidence (Phookamsak et al. 2019). Yasanthika et al. (2020) introduced the second species L. fuyuanensis with close phylogenetic affiliation, but is obviously different from L. hyaloseptispora in having 3-septate, fusiform, hyaline ascospores. In the present study, we recovered L. qujingensis from a temperate palm.
Type species: Lonicericola hyaloseptispora Phookamsak, Jayasiri & K.D. Hyde.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Lonicericola.
