Fungalpedia – Note 2892, Llanorella

Llanorella Alstrup & Olech ex Diederich & Brackel.

Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig 1.

Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Llanorella was initially invalidly introduced by Alstrup et al. (2018) to accommodate the sole type species Llanorella ramalinae. Diederich et al. (2024) validly redescribed it. This genus is characterized by an often-sterile superficial net of blackish hyphae that occasionally produces sterile globules, central agglomerations of dark brown conidia, or terminal conidia. Due to the lack of molecular data, Llanorella is tentatively placed within Ascomycota genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024).

Type species: Llanorella ramalinae Alstrup & Olech ex Diederich & Brackel, on the thallus of Ramalina. (Alstrup et al. 2018).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Llanorella.
