Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.
Lichenobactridium was introduced by Etayo et al. (1995) to describe the lichenicolous species L. pertusariae, found on Pertusaria pertusa. The genus is characterized by sporodochial conidiomata that are immersed to superficial, concave or flat, with a blackish-brown lower portion surrounded by a marginal, brownish granulose layer. The conidiophores are semi-macronematous, hyaline, and filiform, with holoblastic, terminal, filiform, smooth-walled conidiogenous cells. Conidia are solitary, dry, subcylindrical, septate, and hyaline (Etayo et al. 1995). Due to the absence of molecular data, Lichenobactridium is tentatively placed within Ascomycota genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024). Further molecular studies are required for taxonomic clarification.
Type species: Lichenobactridium pertusariae Diederich & Etayo (Etayo et al. 1995).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Lichenobactridium.
