Index Fungorum, Facesoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank.

Classification Bionectriaceae, Hypocreales, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Probably saprobic, on woody substrates. Sexual morph: Ascomata perithecial, gregarious, astromatic, partially immersed in a subiculum of hyaline hyphae, globose with a conical apex, whitish to pale orange becoming brownish orange when dry, cupulate or laterally pinched upon drying, ostiolate, KOH-, lactic acid-. Ostiolar region lined with periphyses, not covered by the hyphae. Peridium of single stratum, composed of subglobose to globose or ellipsoidal cells. Asci 8-spored, unitunicate, clavate, short-stipitate, with an apical ring. Paraphyses present, evanescent, filamentous to narrowly moniliform. Ascospores biseriate or irregularly arranged in upper part, uniseriate in lower part, narrowly ellipsoidal to fusiform, 1-septate, not or slightly constricted at septum, hyaline, pale yellow in mass, verruculose. Asexual morph: Hyphomycetous, acremonium-like. Conidiophores simple or branched, arising from the aerial mycelium, flexuous, smooth-walled, giving rise to a conidiogenous cell. Phialides simple, septate, with an unflared collarette. Conidia ellipsoidal to subcylindrical, aseptate, basal abscission scar visible, hyaline, smooth-walled, aggregated in a mucoid head (adapted from Lechat et al. 2019).

Known distribution: South America, UK, Germany (Lechat et al. 2019; Gams 1971; Summerbell et al. 2011)

Notes: Lechat et al. (2019) established Lasionectriopsis to accommodate Lasionectriopsis germanica and two non-melanised Acremonium species: Acremonium pteridii and A. spinosum (Gams 1971; Summerbell et al. 2011). The genus is typical of Bionectriaceae in its astromatic, globose, pale coloured, KOH and lactic acid negative ascomata and acremonium-like asexual morphs. Lasionectriopsis was identified as a distinct genus based on partially immersed ascomata in a subiculum, peridium of single stratum, verruculose ascospores and LSU phylogeny (Lechat et al. 2019). Three species (with molecular data) are accommodated in Lasionectriopsis. (Lechat et al. 2019).

Type species: Lasionectriopsis germanica Lechat, P.-A. Moreau & H. Bender, Ascomycete.org 11(1): 1 (2019).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Lasionectriopsis.
