Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi

Lambinonia was introduced by Sérusiaux (2005) to accommodate the lichenicolous hyphomycete L. strigulae, initially described as Melanconium strigulae by Elenkin et al. (1908), found growing on Strigula nitidula. The genus is characterized by pale greyish to black, and roundish to elongate sporodochia. Its conidiophores are macronematous, branched, and brown, forming dense tufts. The conidiogenous cells are enteroblastic, monophialidic, with broad collarettes, producing single, dry, aseptate, elongate-ellipsoid conidia that are hyaline and smooth-walled (Sérusiaux 2005). Due to the absence of molecular data, Lambinonia has been tentatively placed within Ascomycota genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024). Further research is required to resolve its phylogenetic placement.

Type species: Lambinonia strigulae (Elenkin & Woron.) Sérus. & Diederich (Sérusiaux 2005).

= Melanconium strigulae Elenkin & Woron. (Elenkin et al. 1908).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Lambinonia.
