Classification: Saccotheciaceae, Dothideales, Dothideomycetidae, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi
Kabatiella is characterized by polyblastic synchronous, inconspicuous scars on denticles, vesiculate conidiogenous cells and aseptate, hyaline, oblong to cylindrical conidia. Several authors have synonymized Kabatiella under Aureobasidium (Hermanides-Nijhof 1977, Sivanesan 1984), but Seifert et al. (2011) and Thambugala et al. (2014a) treated these two genera as separate. Kabatiella species need to be sequenced to resolve taxonomic boundaries of Aureobasidium and Kabatiella. No sexual morph has been linked to the genus.
Type species: Kabatiella microsticta Bubák, Hedwigia 46: 297 (1907).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Kabatiella.
