Notes—The genus Hydeomyces was introduced by Maharachchikumbura et al. (2019), for the type species H. desertipleosporoides Maharachch. et al., which was collected from Juniperus excels M. bieb. in the Al Jabal al-Akhdar mountains, Oman. The second species H. pinicola J.F. Zhang et al., a fungus collected from the dead wood of Pinus sp. in Guizhou Province of China, was added to the genus by Zhang et al. (2019). The genus is characterised by partly immersed to erumpent ascomata, heavily pigmented, 2–5 layered peridium, 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, cylindrical asci, uniseriate, ellipsoidal to subfusiform, muriform ascospores and phoma-like asexual morph (Maharachchikumbura et al. 2019).
Type species: Hydeomyces desertipleosporoides Maharachch., H.A. Ariyaw., Wanas. & Al-Sadi 2019.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Hydeomyces.
