Notes: Hyalotrochophora was established by Morris and Finley (1967), with H. lignatilis as the type species. Hyalotrochophora comprises a single species, H. lignatilis, found on rotting wood of Cyclobalanopsis sp. in America and Japan (Morris and Finley 1967). The genus is characterized by synnematous, septate, straight or curved, sub-dichotomously branched, hyaline to pale brown conidiophores, with the terminal cells often inflated, and becoming club-shaped at the apex, and acrogenous, solitary, hyaline, 1–3-septate conidia, usually formed terminally, consisting of a mucoid mass (Morris and Finley 1967). Hyalotrochophora resembles Trochophora in having synnematous, straight or curved conidiophores that are tightly aggregated at the base and separating near the apex, and solitary, helicoid conidia. However, Hyalotrochophora differs from Trochophora in producing sub-dichotomously branched, hyaline to pale brown, conidiophores with club-shaped apices, and hyaline conidia comprising a mucoid mass (Moore 1955; Morris and Finley 1967).
Type species: Hyalotrochophora lignatilis (Thaxt.) Finley & E.F. Morris, The American Midland Naturalist 77: 203 (1967).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Hyalotrochophora.
