Etymology: “Hyalo-” refers to hyaline helicoid conidia of this fungus. “-helicotubeufia” refers to the genus morphologically similar to the helicosporous asexual morphs of Helicoma and Tubeufia.
Saprobic on rotten wood in a terrestrial habitat. Sexual morph Undetermined. Asexual morph Hyphomycetous, helicosporous. Colonies sparse. Conidiophores macronematous, mononematous, erect, short, flexuous, fuscous, except the hyaline, somewhat inflated, terminal cell. Conidiogenous cells holoblastic, monoblastic, integrated, terminal, hyaline. Conidia solitary, dry, acrogenous, helicoid, tapering towards the rounded ends, obliquely flattened basal ends, with salient, more or less wrinkled septa, coiled 2–3 times, hyaline, smooth-walled.
