Classification: Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
Notes: Helicominopsis was established and described by Deighton (1960), with H. fici as the type species. Helicogoosia comprises two species: H. clematidis and H. fici, which were found on leaves of Clematis grata and Ficus capensis in Africa and India (Deighton 1960; Sohi and Sharma 1966). Helicominopsis is characterized by subhyaline, septate, branched or unbranched conidiophores consisting of conspicuous scars, and are sometimes swollen at the apex, and subhyaline, smooth, subcylindrical, vermiform, spirally coiled, and rarely pleurogenous conidia (Deighton 1960; Sohi and Sharma 1966). Helicominopsis shares similarities with Helicomina caperoniae in having spirally coiled conidia, but Helicominopsis differs from Helicomina caperoniae in the thickness of the conidial scar and the presence of a superficial mycelial network from which the conidiophores arise (Olive 1948; Deighton 1960).
Type species: Helicominopsis fici Deighton, Mycological Papers 78: 21 (1960).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Helicominopsis.
