Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig 1.

Classification: Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Incertae sedis, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Notes: Helicogoosia was erected by Holubová-Jechová (1991), with H. paradoxa as the type species. Helicogoosia comprises a single species, H. paradoxa, which was found on Pinus sylvestris in former Czechoslovakia (Holubová-Jechová 1991). The genus is characterized by monoblastic, lanceolate, terminal or lateral, determinate or proliferating, pale brown to brown conidiogenous cells that become easily detachable, and holoblastic, acrogenous, solitary, brown, septate conidia with an external obtuse apical end, and an internal conical basal end (Holubová-Jechová 1991). Helicogoosia differs from other helicoid genera due to its unique morphological features, such as lanceolate conidiogenous cells, helicoid conidia with a conidial body of apical end outside, and the basal end inside (Linder 1929; Goos 1989; Zhao et al. 2007; Lu et al. 2018b).

Type species: Helicogoosia paradoxa Hol.-Jech., Mycotaxon 41 (2): 446 (1991).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Helicogoosia.
